History
Logan Artists Association Inc is a non profit organization which was incorporated in September 1983. Over the past twenty years the association has consisted of a wide cross section of members of diverse ages and nationalities. Membership of the Association is open to artists representing all mediums and styles such as Oils, Water colours, Acrylics, Pastels, Miniatures, Pencil, Charcoal, Clay Sculptures, Pottery, Stone Carvings and Mixed Media. Annual exhibitions are staged each year as well as collective and solo exhibitions. Artists specialise in their particular form of visual art, but also have opportunities to engage in a variety of activities through periodic workshops, group painting excursions and gallery visits. These activities enable participants to explore all available mediums to develop and broaden their creative skills and perceptions. Several members have been involved in community projects such as School Holiday Programmes. Structured as well as casual informal workshops have also been held periodically over the years to introduce members and the community to various forms of art techniques. In 2006, the association entered into a partnership with Logan City Council and the Logan Art Gallery. We were provided with the Loganlea premises and have been progressively upgrading the facilities to cater for classes, workshops and meetings. It is our aim to develop Loganlea into a centre where art is practiced in all forms. Funding While we do not receive regular funding, the Association raises revenue through memberships and other fees to cover public liability insurances and activities in which we are engaged. Specially run community events have been funded by grants from RADF. The improvements to our Loganlea venue for the pottery studio was proudly funded by a grant from the Gambling Community Benefits Fund. Management Committee The Management Committee is elected at our Annual General Meeting and consists of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Newsletter Editor and Maintenance Supervisor. The members meet monthly (first Saturday) to discuss general business and Sub Committees have been formed to plan such things as our annual exhibition. Volunteers We rely on members volunteering to assist in staging events and becoming involved in various community activities. Our Commitment The Association promotes the sharing and learning of artistic skills and fostering community spirit. Our aims are to respond to the needs of members and the local community. Special Events Members enter their works in an Annual Exhibition as well as other showings at various venues. The Association also is proactive in community events and festivals staged throughout the year.
